Moving Matters with Katie

Katie has over 10 year’s experience in the field of Rehabilitation of elderly people, assessing and treating clients with a broad range of acute and chronic physical conditions. In addition, Katie is adept at preparing clients for surgery (Prehabilitation) to improve recovery and outcomes.

Moving Matters with Katie has been established in order to offer a much needed service for our growing elderly population striving to maintain their independence and quality of life.

After graduating from Cardiff University in 2010 with a 1st Degree Honors BSc in Physiotherapy, Katie’s career began in Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Following rotations as a Junior Physiotherapist, Katie recognised that her communication, patience and holistic approach were highly valued at building effective rapport and results with elderly patients, often with complex comorbidities. She works closely with her clients to promote self- management and empower them to achieve their goals.

Katie has broad experience in the field of elderly care. From many years working on acute medical wards, community settings and private 1:1 clients, she has developed a strong network of contacts and a solid understanding of the wider health and social care frameworks.

Katie has always been passionate about exercise and an advocate for its wealth of benefits to our physical and mental health. In 2020, Katie completed additional qualifications including L3 Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach and Senior Fitness Specialist for Older Adults certification. These courses further fuelled her interest and commitment to a holistic care approach and equipped her for her most recent position as Clinical Lead Physiotherapist for Gloucester’s NHS Prehabilitation Team.

Katie has a passion for life-long learning and is committed to adapt ‘Moving Matters’ clinical practise to align with current evidence. She actively seeks to keep informed about local healthcare systems and resources that are relevant to her field of work.
